Make hope work for you

We all hope that one or more aspects of our lives will get better. It could be our jobs, relationships or simply our appearance or body-weight.
We want to plan everything and control every facet of our lives to leave no room for ambiguity. For our perfectly curated life uncertainty is the enemy. But then the universe has its way of providing us with life lessons, and often our plans end up in a nought. One can freeze into inaction out of fear of the unknown or use destiny to hide behind mental reluctance.
However, one can use hope to tide over uncertainty. But only “hoping for the best” will not work. We must engage in a four-step process for hope to be real. First is to recognise what is that you want to improve in your life - medical issues, friendships, body image. The mind must know what you are trying to achieve.
Secondly, you must start with small yet coordinated steps towards your purpose all within our comfort zone. Later there will be a time and need to initiate action outside the comfort zone. What you want to change for better must be clear in your mind then venture out of your comfort zone.
Thirdly be ready to reroute your efforts as many times as needed. There is no limit to the kind of obstruction one must face from external circumstances and internal demons of doubt and lethargy. By realigning your efforts based on current circumstances is how we use uncertainty to our advantage.
And fourth keep a vision of how you feel loved, accomplished, relieved or confident once things get better. That vision gets stronger by the day and keeps giving meaning to the object of our hope.
Hope is not a wish-fulfilling genie. Hope is more like a friend, always available at the time of need; ready to guide to our actions.
